Pump and Controller Recommendation
To get the most out of your Penguin Chillers 1 HP HE Water Chiller, it's recommended that you use a Danner Mag-drive pump rated between 500 and 1800 gallons per hour. Other pumps may be acceptable, but they need to be rated for less than 10 psi max pressure. If you're using a different pool/spa pump or any other pump rated in horsepower, it's best to talk with tech support first to determine the best method of installation for your system. The Penguin Chillers website also offers a selection of pumps and accessory packages that you can browse.
In addition to a pump, the Penguin Chillers 1 HP HE Water Chiller requires a digital controller to constantly monitor your system's incoming water temperature. Water flow is needed at all times for the controller to successfully read current temperatures. When your system's water temperature moves above your desired set point, the controller tells the compressor and fan to turn on and begin cooling the water. Once your desired set point temperature is reached, the compressor and fan will turn off.
